The Rolle Canal & Northern Devon Waterways Society was inaugurated in 2003. The aims of this organisation, more usually called The Rolle Canal Society, are:-
To raise public awareness of the existence of this historic waterway and the effect it had on the development and prosperity of the local environment
To provide information on the function of this canal and who brought it into being
To restore where possible salient features of Lord Rolle’s canal
To celebrate and cherish our industrial/agricultural heritage and the influence it had, and continues to exert, on our present day life-style and on our ever-changing landscape.

The Rolle Canal Society attempts to achieve these aims by means of:-
Organising regular guided walks along sections of Lord Rolle’s Canal and other waterways.
Providing illustrated talks on the canal and related matters at regular intervals
Producing and distributing information through a Rolle Canal Society news booklet
By providing informative leaflets on the canal in general and on specific sections.
Encouraging volunteer ‘navigators’ to help with the physical aspect of restoration.

The Rolle Canal & Northern Devon Waterway Society has a small but dedicated committee who meet regularly to promote the interests of the society and its members. It is always looking for new members to the society and for anyone interested in helping to run the organisation.
